Last week, we shared meditation with local residents at Chester Hill, Riverwood, Campsie and Lakemba libraries as part of Canterbury-Bankstown City Council’s Mental Health Month program. Around 20 people joined each session, creating a welcoming space to pause and practise together.

Each workshop began with gentle stretches to release tension in the body. We then explored how the mind works and how stress can affect us, before settling into a 30-minute guided meditation.

Meditation workshop
How is your mind?

Attendees responded warmly.

Their comments included “Very informative” and “Amazing! Love it! Extremely beneficial!” One person added, “Have it more often.”

Another described the session as an amazing experience and appreciated learning about dealing with stress and keeping a healthy mind.

Everyday life can feel busy, so making time to pause can be valuable.

We hope these workshops offered participants something useful to carry into daily life, and that we can share meditation with more people in the community in the future.
